Recently, I asked a couple of women why they joined one of my coaching groups.
One said with an onery smile on her face, “Because Kathy Burrus kept badgering me.” I looked at the other and could tell she was surprised that she wasn't the only one that felt that way.
Hmm? That made me wonder. I found myself asking God,
“Am I badgering women? Am I being pushy or manipulative?”
The truth? Maybe. For sure that’s how it felt from their side.
I did question my motivation since over the last couple of years of forced 'sabbatical' due to my health, it has felt wonderful to begin inviting my community back into the opportunities that I offer at GHC. My excitement may have been a bit much as I look back.
But here’s what I know deep in my bones: It was not because I wanted to "get people' into my group. (Though honestly, groups are much more fun with women in them. )
No, my excitement is because I have seen what happens when women say yes to the invitation—even if they don’t feel ready.
I’ve seen transformation.
I’ve watched women like Debbie, who wrestled for years with knowing how God was working in her life, begin to see and own that God was using her—in her wheelchair, riding the streets of Bowling Green—to make her town more accessible.
I’ve walked with women like Kelly, who at one time couldn’t see her value at all. Now she has taken courageous next steps she never imagined taking. Let me tell you, they weren't the steps she thought she was supposed to take when she started her journey. But as she continued to listen to God - He kept directing.
And there are more stories to share.
So yes—maybe I speak with urgency.
Maybe I invite strongly.
Because I believe in what can happen.
Because I know the difference that’s waiting on the other side of that yes.
And—because the world is chaotic.
Because if ever there was a “for such a time as this” moment, this is it.
Because I believe that you have something beautiful and meaningful to offer—something designed by God for this very moment.
So if you’ve ever felt like I was being “too much” in my invitation… maybe it’s not just me.
Maybe it’s the Holy Spirit nudging you.
And maybe that resistance you’re feeling isn’t guilt or pressure—it’s the growing edge of something new.
So I’m here.
Not to badger.
But to remind you of who you are,
to hold space for what’s possible,
and to invite you to take the next brave step.
