Have you ever…
Felt selfish for focusing on your own needs when you have always been taught to "look out for the interests of others?"
You’re not alone. Many of the women I walk with through Green Hope Coaching wrestle with this same tension.
But here’s the truth I keep coming back to—having needs doesn’t make you faithless; it makes you human.
From the very beginning, God made us with needs—for love, rest, connection, nourishment, and purpose. These aren’t signs of selfishness; they are signs of design. We were never created to live self-sufficiently.
Yes, God promises to meet all our needs (Philippians 4:19). But often, He chooses to do it through people, community, and the rhythms He’s built into our lives. When we ignore our needs, we sometimes resist the very care He’s trying to give us.
What if tending to your needs—resting, reaching out, or allowing yourself to be comforted—is one of the ways you worship Him?
What if your needs are actually holy invitations?
This week, I invite you to pause and ask:
What needs am I pretending I don’t have?
How might God be inviting me to receive His care in those places?
What would change if I saw my needs as a doorway to deeper connection with Him?
Friend, your needs are not a weakness. They are sacred spaces where you and God meet.
With grace and green hope,
Kathy
